Couple of takeaways from this game:
– Nets look just as good (if not better) without Kyrie
– The pelicans should switch more on defense
– Pelicans are settling in and starting to get it
Remember when everyone was saying how great lonzo was gonna be ?
Been saying it all year. This pelicans team wont win games until they get better on defense. That's their biggest issue. They can score. But they cant get stops ever. They have no communication on pick and rolls players dont rotate quickly enough sometimes players dony even attempt to close out. Their top defender jrue gets cooked it seems like everytime the other team is running the clock down in crunch time. Dinwiddie cooked him twice at the end on 1 on 1s and when he got by him nobody came over to help in the paint. Jrue also seems to want to be the hero of this team and its killing them at times when they need a bucket. Ingram had his first real rough shooting game he missed some big free throws yet when they needed buckets at the end he was the only one coming through. I personally thought the flow was much better tonight without Reddick. They have gotten hard to watch sometimes but Zion will not fix these issues . They either need a new coach asap or they need to make some moves . Jrue would hey them a decent haul they need better defenders and a better rim protector. Hayes is just raw he shows flashes but hes just young and you can tell when he plays other experienced big men. Until they make moves I dony lnownif I would even rush Zion back by any means
