  2. Missed kick at the end of this game provides much drama and a moment for the NFL history books. Rewatching this game I would say the vikings should have been up 3 scores at the half but were only up 6 points. They came out lackluster at the start of the first half and their special teams and defense were subpar compared to the falcons. Vikings should have never needed a last second FG to win this game, they should have won it going away.

  3. ATL was 14-2 and wildly underestimated. Dan Reeves installed the perfect game plan: try to shut down Randy Moss with two defenders and play 9 vs 10 football. Got lucky with Gary Andersson's missed FG, but teams that routinely blow out other teams don't usually play well when under pressure in the 4th Quarter. Ditto the Vikings.

  4. The Vikings lost this game when Cunningham fumbled at the end of the first half. Going into the locker room with a 20-7 lead instead of a 20-14 lead was a big deal.

  5. I’m not even a Vikings fan but this game hurts to watch. So many times they were so close to clinching the game and it didn’t happen. It also pissed me off because the falcons were no match for the broncos. Vikings choking made the super bowl suck.

  6. Damn that Vikings team was so stacked, and were by far the best team to not make the Super Bowl. They surely would have put up a hell of a lot more of a fight than the Falcons did, who rolled over, and played dead at the sight of that Bronco uniform right from the start. The foolish stunt Eugene Robinson pulled the night before surely didn't help matters much either.

  7. Being an Eagles fan it breaks my heart that Randall Cunningham was just a field goal away from playing in his first Super Bowl, if the Vikes had won the Broncos would've had more of a challenge and Elway would've had to fight hard to get his 2nd ring

  8. Forgot how epic trash the Vikings secondary was in this game. 6:00 min to go in the game with a 7 point lead……no excuses for losing this game. Still unreal.

  9. I remember watching this game as a 8th grader. That year the Vikings blew out everyone and there offense was unstoppable with Moss. They beat my Cardinals in the previous round but I remember this game. I watched the game at my friends house. His dad cooked us breakfast and gave me my first beer lol and Viking went down like David vs Goleth, Tyson vs Buster Douglas. It was definitely an UPSET!!!

  10. 20 plus years later. I still can't watch this or the NFC Championship game.

I was 16 at the time and I remember crying. Why the heck did they go for a more conservative offense in the second half. We should have just blown them out like they did with every other team that year.

  11. Mannn I remember that Game….. I broke my fricken Ankle… kicking a fire hydrant out side a bar I’m Minneapolis Mn. After the game. Ouch…. lol

  12. I remember watching this when I was younger and being in shock when the falcons won this game…now watching it, I see how some situational stuff blew this game for Minnesota. Taking a knee with timeouts? Gary Anderson missing the kick, yeah, but there were points in this game where you just scratch your head and laugh.

  13. Vikings pass rush is weak. Vikings are blitzing EVERY down; with no pressure resulting, always one LB A Gap Blitz; sometimes a safety. EVERY time FB or Jamal Anderson hits him hard. It's like the opposite of 01 Patriots SB; to punish Marshall Faulk by sending a rusher; the Backs are punishing a LB or a Safety EVERY play. Because they get blocked on the runs. BUT; they're actually decent against the run and Im finishing the 1st quarter.

  14. It's 5/22/20 and I began my old NFL game review. After 5 months of classic College; the Schematic sameness of the NFL seems even more puzzling today. WHY did everyone run the same thing with same personnel? It's like watching Wisconsin Vs Stanford every single game. The offense every game is drawn up here. http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2009/07/nfl-offense-what-is-it-why-does-every.html It's the same 10, maybe 20 plays. Thank God for the innovators; the Andy Reid, Doug Pederson, even Josh McDaniels for the Shotgun spread 2007 Patriots. There's SOOO many other ways to move the ball. 2019 Ravens unleashed the first Smashmouth Spread base offense; but it's at least 15 years old; it's almost 'Old School' now; Urban Meyer won titles in 2000's using it. And then again 2014.

  15. I remember this game, I really thought the Vikings were going to win it all, the first "greatest show on turf" but on another note at 8:21 1st qtr, they show Minnesota snow, but the blue skies of the 90's, now we have white outs, from those damn planes…blue skies and white snow, nothing more beautiful!!
